The Prevailing Torque Nut features a thread locking system that prevents reverse turning or backing off of the screw. This system provides a thread interference characteristic that effectively combats loosening under vibration. Also known as stiff nuts, prevailing torque nuts, and lock nuts, our Prevailing Torque Lock Nuts are one-piece, hexagonal nuts with a flat bottom bearing surface, a conical top, and chamfered corners. The locking action is achieved by twisting the top threads, effectively resisting loosening caused by vibration, shock, and other dynamic forces.
